How WPM is calculated
A “word” in typing tests is defined as 5 characters (including spaces). This standard unit allows fair comparison regardless of word length.

(characters typed ÷ 5) ÷ minutes

Gross WPM − (errors ÷ minutes)
Accuracy
Percentage of characters typed correctly compared to the challenge text.
